CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2007-/J'-Z/
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA INCREASING THE EXPENDITURE
FOR THE PURCHASE OF MICROFILMING AND DOCUMENT
DIGITIZING SERVICES FROM LASON SYSTEMS, INC., FOR
A TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED $80,000 ANNUALLY;
APPROVING FUNDING FROM THE APPROPRIATE
ACCOUNTS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is legally required to retain public records for
archival and historical purposes; and
WHEREAS, to efficiently reduce the physical storage space needed for these public
records, microfilming and document digitizing services for various departmental records is
necessary; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac entered into a contract with Lason Systems, Inc.,
for microfilming and document digitizing services, through passage and adoption of
Resolution R-2005-110, on file in the office of the City Clerk, which authorizes an annual
expenditure not to exceed $40,000; and
WHEREAS, as a direct result of Hurricane Wilma in October 2005, the Building
Department experienced an unprecedented increase in issuance of permits and plans,
posing a significant issue with storage and quick retrieval of records; and

WHEREAS, in order to accommodate space, filing, and retrieval needs, microfilming
and digitizing of Building Department records was accelerated, and has necessitated an
increase in the annual expenditure to cover the cost of microfilming and digitizing said
records as well as future large volume jobs; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Clerk, and Purchasing & Contracts
Manager that the expenditure for the purchase of microfilming and document digitizing
services be increased to an amount not to exceed $80,000 annually; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to increase the
expenditure for the purchase of microfilming and document digitizing services to an amount
not to exceed $80,000 annually.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon
adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to increase the
expenditure for the purchase of microfilming and document digitizing services to an
amount not to exceed $80,000 annually.

SECTION 3: Funding is available for the purchase of microfilming and document
imaging services from the appropriate accounts at a total cost not to exceed $80,000
annually.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
