RESOLUTION NO. R-2007-,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, SUPPORTING UNITED STATES
SENATE BILL 1115 KNOWN AS THE "ENERGY
EFFICIENCY PROMOTION ACT OF 2007" (S.1115);
URGING FLORIDA'S MEMBERS OF THE US CONGRESS
TO SUPPORT SA 115; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
PROVIDE A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
MEMBERS OF THE U.S. SENATE COMMITTEE ON
ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES, AND ALL OTHER
INTERESTED PARTIES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 16, 2007, United States Senator Jeff Bingaman (NM)
introduced the "Energy Efficiency Promotion Act of 2007" (S.1115); and
WHEREAS, this bill aims to improve efficiency in vehicles, buildings,
consumer appliances and industrial equipment; and
WHEREAS, this bill has enjoyed bi-partisan support and sponsorship in the
Senate; and
WHEREAS, this bill builds on the foundation of the Energy Policy Act of
2005; and
WHEREAS, this bill is in keeping with the United States Conference of
Mayors' 10-Point Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, is dedicated
to contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable, and more energy -secure future; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to
be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac, the State
of Florida, and the United States to pursue environmentally -driven, earth -conscious
initiatives.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida,
hereby supports the "Energy Efficiency Promotion Act of 2007" (S.1115) and urges
members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, the
mayor of each municipality in Broward County, the Broward League of Cities, and
the Florida League of Cities to support S.1115.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby directed to provide a certified
copy of this Resolution to the members of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy
and Natural Resources, and all other interested parties.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or

invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
