R-2006-j0 , A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING GREGORY WARNER AS PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 11, 2006, OR AT SUCH EARLIER DATE AS IS MUTUALLY AGREED UPON; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Charter, Section 5.04(a) provides that the City Manager "shall appoint and supervise the heads of all departments and Assistant City Manager... subject to the approval of the majority of the Commission...."; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Manager that Gregory Warner be appointed as Parks and Recreation Director, effective January 11, 2006 or at such earlier date as is mutually agreed upon; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the City Manager's appointment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Temp. Reso. #10870 Page 2 December 15, 2005 SECTION 2: That on recommendation of the City Manager, Gregory Warner is appointed as Parks and Recreation Director, effective January 11, 2006. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, or other part of application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. Mr. Warner holds a Bachelors Degree in Leisure Management from Bethany College, West Virginia and has over 15 years of experience in Parks and Recreation. Additionally, he is a certified Parks and Recreation Professional and a Certified Pool Operator. Prior to being.appointed Interim Director of Parks and Recreation in April 2005, Mr. Warner served as Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation from November 2002 through April 2005 and as Recreation Superintendent from July 1999 through June 2002. His tenure with the City has been marked with several successes and accomplishments; most recently, he led the efforts that resulted in the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Department receiving the distinguished honor of'being designated a nationally accredited agency by the National Parks and Recreation Association. Prior to joining the City of Tamarac, he held various management positions in Parks and Recreation departments in Florida and in New York, am very pleased to recommend that Mr. Warner be appointed.
