R-2006-IIH A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING REQUESTS FROM THE TAMARAC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR IN -KIND SUPPORT AND TO WAIVE ALL FEES FOR THE TASTE OF TAMARAC EVENT TO BE HELD AT THE TAMARAC COMMUNITY CENTER ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2006, FROM 12:00 P.M. TO 3:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR PROPER INSURANCE AND EXECUTION OF HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has received a request from the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce to waive all fees, and for certain in -kind support services for their Taste of Tamarac event to be held at the Tamarac Community Center on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (attached as Exhibit 1); and WHEREAS, the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization and requests waiver of all fees; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, wishes to continue to support the Chamber of Commerce for this community event; and WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends approval of the request to waive all fees and for the City of Tamarac to provide certain inkind support services for the Taste of Tamarac event to be held October 21, 2006; and 1 Temp. Reso #11018 - July 26, 2006 Page 2 Rev. 1 — 8/21 /06 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the request for waiver of all fees and to provide certain inkind support services for the Taste of Tamarac event to be held October 21, 2006 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the request to waive all fees and to provide certain inkind services as listed below for the Taste of Tamarac event to be held at the Tamarac Community Center on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., is HEREBY APPROVED. • Waiver of Community Center Gym rental fees • Continuous shuttle transportation from Tamarac City Hall on the day of the event from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. • Fire Inspector call out • Assistance in event operations from the Special Events and Parks Divisions • City electrician to be scheduled to work on the day of the event to address any electrical issues • Tamarac Water (50 cases) to be distributed to patrons on the day of the event • Assistance in event activities from the Tamarac Teen Club • City showcase area featuring departments and services of interest to the general public • Broward Sheriffs Office detail for event security SECTION 3: That insurance coverage in a form and amount acceptable to the City's Risk/Safety Manager and an executed hold harmless agreement in a form acceptable to the City's Risk/Safety Manager be provided to the City before the event. Temp. Reso #11018 - July 26, 2006 Page 3 Rev. 1 — 8/21 /06 SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. DRESSLER 18fnp. kzso. #11018 RECEIVED JUL 18 2006 Exhibit 1 July 13th, 2006 Mr. Jeffrey Miller, City Manager City of Tamarac 7525 N.W. 88" Ave. Tamarac, FL 33321 Dear Mr. Miller, The Tamarac Chamber of Commerce is planning A Taste of Tamarac 2006. We expect it to bigger and better than 2005, which attracted over 800 attendees. This event is scheduled for Saturday, October 21 st, 2006 from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. and we expect attendance to be close to 1,000. This is a family event and no alcoholic beverages will be sold or sampled. In order to ensure the success of the event, I would like to request the following assistance from the City of Tamarac: • The use of the Tamarac Community Center from Friday October 20th at 12:00 noon for set up — Saturday October 21st, 6:00 p.m. for take down and clean up. • Continuous shuttle transportation from Tamarac City Hall on the day of the event starting at 11:30am to 3:30pm. • Tamarac Fire Rescue to be on site for emergency medical services. • Use of BSO detail day of event. • Use of the stage in the gymnasium. • Assistance in event operations from the Parks and Recreation Special Events Division. • City Electrician to be scheduled to work on the day of the event to address electrical issues. • Permission to park on the easement on 571" Street. • Tamarac Water (50 cases) to be distributed to patrons on the day of the event. • Assistance in event setup and breakdown from Tamarac Teen Club. • Permission to place signs around the city for 10 days prior to the event. (Income from craft show vendor registration will be paid to the city.) • Incorporation into event existing- City Halloween program. • Include as part of the event an Art Show. (Income from art show participants will be paid to the city.) The Tamarac Chamber of Commerce strives to promote the businesses in our community. I believe that the Taste of Tamarac 2006 will be another step in creating public awareness for the Chamber and all who are involved.
