CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2006-�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO APPROVE AND
ADOPT A PARTNERSHIP FOR WORKING TOWARD
INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is committed to inclusion as a fundamental
aspect of our community; and
WHEREAS, cities and towns are the best place to make inclusiveness an
everyday priority; and
WHEREAS, local elected officials can and should take the lead in making
inclusiveness a priority in America's cities and towns; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities has designed the Partnership for
Working Toward Inclusive Communities to support cities and towns in their
commitment to inclusion; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities and its members believe an
inclusive community promotes citizen participation and engagement; and
WHEREAS, National League of Cities President Jim Hunt, councilmember,
Clarksburg, West Virginia, has invited local officials to join the Partnership for
Working Toward Inclusive Communities and to make a commitment to building more
inclusive communities in their own cities and towns; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to
be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to join the
National League of Cities Partnership for Working Toward Inclusive Communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: The appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to approve
and adopt a Partnership for Working Toward Inclusive Communities as a
reaffirmation of the City of Tamarac's commitment to inclusion as a fundamental
aspect of our community, pledging active efforts to seek and achieve this goal, and
urging all citizens of Tamarac to join together to support this effort.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part
or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
