RESOLUTION NO. R2006-_I qj
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA URGING
THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO ADOPT LEGISLATION
PROVIDING FOR A ONE DOLLAR ($1.00) INCREASE IN THE
STATE OF FLORIDA MINIMUM WAGE; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on November 2, 2004, the voters of the State of Florida
approved an increase in the minimum wage from six dollars and fifteen cents
($6.15) per hour to six dollars and forty cents ($6.40) per hours; and
WHEREAS, effective January 1, 2007, the minimum wage of the State of
Florida will increase to six dollars and sixty-seven cents ($6.67) per hour; and
WHEREAS, the Federal minimum wage is five dollars and fifteen cents
($5.15) per hour; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to remain competitive and ensure a high -quality
workforce throughout the State, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac is
urging the Legislature of the State of Florida to enact legislation further raising the
minimum wage by an additional one dollar ($1.00) amount; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems a one dollar
($1.00) increase in the State of Florida's minimum wage to be in the best interests
of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac as well as throughout the State
of Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are true and correct and
hereby ratified and confirmed by the City Commission.
SECTION 2. The City of Tamarac hereby urges the Legislature of the State
of Florida to enact legislation providing for a one dollar ($1.00) increase in the
State's minimum wage.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk of the City of Tamarac is hereby authorized to
provide a copy of this resolution to the Members of the Broward Delegation and
other Members of the Florida Legislature, the Governor of the State of Florida, the
Broward League of Cities and the Florida League of Cities.

SECTION 4. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith, be
and the same are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5. If any clause, section or other part of this Resolution shall be
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, such
unconstitutional or invalid part shall be considered as eliminated and in no way
effecting the validity of the other provisions of this Resolution.
SECTION 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
ADOPTED by the City Commission of the CITY OF TAMARAC, Florida
