R-2006- 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MARCH 14, 2006 GENERAL ELECTION FOR CITY COMMISSION DISTRICTS 2 AND 4 AND FOR MAYOR AT -LARGE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a General Election was held on March 14, 2006, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 2, one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 4, and one candidate for the Office of Mayor representing the City of Tamarac At -Large; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the results of the machine voting and absentee ballots and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has reviewed the certification from the Broward County Canvassing Board and has presented their findings to the City Commission for a formal Certification and Declaration of the results; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to declare the results of the March 14, 2006 General Election for City Commission Districts 2 and 4 and for Mayor At -Large. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Temp. Reso. #10903 March 20, 2006 Page 2 of 3 SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 at the General Election held March 14, 2006: Patricia Atkins -Grad 1,148 Patti Lynn 687 SECTION 3: That Patricia Atkins -Grad, having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Commission Representative, District 2, of the City of Tamarac for a term of three years. SECTION 4: That Harry Dressler, having run unopposed for Commission Representative for District 4 is deemed to be elected the Commission Representative for District 4 of the City of Tamarac for a term of three years. SECTION 5: That the following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Mayor, representing the City of Tamarac At -Large for a term of three years. Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco 4,485 Karen L. Roberts 1,590 Mae Schreiber 864 Elayne Weisburd 759 SECTION 6: That Beth Flansbaum-Talabisco, having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Mayor At -large of the City of Tamarac for a term of three years. 1 Temp. Reso. #10903 March 20, 2006 Page 3 of 3 SECTION 7: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 8: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 9: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 21 st day of March 2006.
