RESOLUTION NO. 2006-],�,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA APPROVING
AND SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HIGH SCHOOL IN THE
CITY OF SUNRISE, FLORIDA THAT WILL SERVE THE CITIZENS AND
RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the School Board of Broward County (hereinafter referred to as the "School
Board") is in the process of allocating and prioritizing school construction funds; and
WHEREAS, changing demographics in the City of Tamarac (hereinafter referred to as the
"City") have resulted in an influx of high school students in the City of Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City has diligently worked in cooperation with the School Board to
identify a site for construction of a high school to serve the citizens and residents of the City of
Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the School Board is considering construction of a high school in the City of
Weston; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and
residents of the City for the School Board to make it a priority to construct a new high school in the
City of Sunrise that will serve and accommodate the City's high school students; and
WHEREAS, the City urges the School Board to construct the high school in the City of
Sunrise prior to the construction of the Weston high school site.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION 1. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
true and correct and hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2. The City Commission hereby supports the construction of a high school in
the City of Sunrise that will serve City of Tamarac high school students, and the City Commission
further urges the School Board of Broward County to give the construction of this school priority
over the construction of a high school in the City of Weston.
SECTION 3. The proper City Officials of the City of Tamarac be, and are hereby
authorized and directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the members of the School Board of
Broward County, the Superintendent of the Broward County schools, and all other interested
parties.

SECTION 4. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith, are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5. If any clause, section or other part of this Resolution shall be held by any
court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, such unconstitutional or invalid
part shall be considered as eliminated and in no way affecting the validity of the other provisions
of this Resolution.
SECTION 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
