R2004- i 9 v A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING MURRAY NATHANSON AS CHAIR TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO SERVE A ONE-YEAR TERM ENDING JUNE 21, 2005; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, members were appointed to the Veterans Affairs Committee on June 21, 2004 to serve one-year terms; and WHEREAS, the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee have nominated MURRAY NATHANSON to serve as Chair to the Veterans Affairs Committee for a one-year period ending June 21, 2005; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code the Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall be nominated by the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee but appointed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint MURRAY NATHANSON to serve as Chair to the Veterans Affairs Committee for a one-year term ending June 21, 2005. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: 1 Temp. Reso. #10529 Page 2 August 17, 2004 SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct, and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code, the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee nominated MURRAY NATHANSON to serve as Chair to the Veterans Affairs Committee. SECTION 3: That pursuant to Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac hereby appoints MURRAY NATHANSON to serve as Chair to the Veterans Affairs Committee for a one-year term ending June 21, 2005. SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
