CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2004-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A THREE
PERCENT (3%) ADJUSTMENT TO THE MINIMUM AND A
THREE AND ONE HALF PERCENT (3.5%) ADJUSTMENT TO
THE MAXIMUM OF THE PAY RANGES IN THE BARGAINING
UNIT PAY PLAN; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on December 12, 2002, the City Commission ratified a Collective
Bargaining Agreement between the Federation of Public Employees and the City granting
a three and one half percent (3.5%) salary increase to bargaining unit employees of record
effective October 1, 2004, subject to the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement between the City of Tamarac and the Federation of
Public Employees provides for an adjustment to the minimum and maximum of the pay
ranges in the Pay Plan for bargaining unit employees ranging from two percent (2%) to
three and one half percent (3.5%) effective October 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing competitive salary survey data from cities in the
surrounding area, the Human Resources Director and City Manager recommend that the
minimum of the pay ranges be increased by three percent (3%) and the maximum of the
pay ranges be increased by three and one half percent (3.5%) in the Pay Plan for
bargaining employees, effective October 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, for positions in the bargaining unit that are currently in a skill -based
progression broadband, in addition to the minimum, each step or milestone is also

recommended to increase three percent (3%) and the maximum pay is recommended to
increase by three and one-half percent (3.5%), effective October 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the proposed budget for Fiscal Year2005 anticipated this adjustment in
the Pay Plan for bargaining employees; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has deemed it to be in the best interest of the
citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to increase the minimum of the pay ranges by
three percent (3%) and increase the maximum of the pay ranges by three and one half
percent (3.5%), in the Pay Plan for bargaining employees, and that for positions in the
bargaining unit that are currently in a skill -based progression broadband, in addition to the
minimum, increase each step or milestone by three percent (3%) and increase the
maximum of the pay range by three and one half percent (3.5%), effective October 1,
2004,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the minimum of the pay ranges increase by three percent
(3%) and the maximum of the pay ranges increase by three and one half percent (3.5%),
in the Pay Plan for bargaining employees, and that for positions in the bargaining unit that
are currently in a skill -based progression broadband, in addition to the minimum, each step
or milestone increase by three percent (3%) and the maximum of the pay range increase
by three and one half percent (3.5%), effective October 1, 2004 as shown on Exhibit A.

SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
