CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2004 - W
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, NAMING THE NEWLY
CONSTRUCTED MCNAB PARK PROJECT, LOCATED AT
11000 WEST MCNAB ROAD, TAMARAC, "SUNSET POINT";
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has implemented a process to provide for
citizen input into the naming of City parks and recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, this process provides name identification for individual parks and
recreation facilities owned by the City of Tamarac and ensures control for the naming of
the parks and recreation facilities by the City Commission through the recommendation
of the City Manager with input from the Parks and Recreation Board and City Staff; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has recommended a
temporary working name of "McNab Park" for the recently completed park project
located at 11000 West McNab Road, Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation has solicited and received
naming applications from the community for review by the Parks and Recreation Board
for the McNab Park project; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Board has reviewed the submitted names
for the McNab Park project and has selected their top three names for the park; and
WHEREAS, Public Notice of the recommended names was advertised in the
Sun -Sentinel on March 17, 2004; and

WHEREAS, following the 30 day public notice period, the Director of Parks and
Recreation, upon recommendation of the Parks and Recreation Board, submitted to the
City Manager the top three recommended names, including 1) Sunset Point, 2) Sun
Park, and 3) Rainbow's End Park; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Parks and Recreation
and the City Manager that the City Commission select one of the top three
recommended names submitted by the Parks and Recreation Board for the newly
constructed park; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to name the park
"Sunset Point".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the newly constructed McNab Park project, located at 11000
W. McNab Road, Tamarac, is hereby named "Sunset Point."
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
