CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R2003-108
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING COMMISSIONER EDWARD
C. PORTNER AS LIAISON TO THE PUBLIC INFORMATION
COMMITTEE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME NOT TO EXTEND PAST
THE NEXT GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHICH WILL BE
HELD IN MARCH 2O05; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 2-33 of the Tamarac Code (attached as Exhibit "A")
provides for appointment of the Mayor and City Commission members to serve
as liaisons to Tamarac Boards and Committees; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Edward C. Portner expressed an interest in
serving as Liaison to Public Information Committee; and
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is in agreement with this appointment;
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint
Commissioner Edward C. Partner to serve as Liaison to the Public Information
Committee for a period not to extend past the next general municipal election
scheduled to be held in March 2005.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of
this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That Commissioner Edward C. Portner is hereby appointed
as Liaison to the Public Information Committee pursuant to Section 2-33 of the
Tamarac Code, said appointment not to extend past the March 2005 general
municipal election.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

Sec. 2-33. Liaison positions.
The city commission, by majority vote, may designate any member of the city commission,
including the mayor, to the position of liaison to a city committee, a city department or a
governmental entity outside the city. The city commission may also designate a liaison to a
special project by majority vote. Only the mayor or a commissioner may serve In a liaison
position and may hold more than one (1) liaison position. The designation of liaison shall be at
the pleasure of the city commission for a period of time not to extend past the next city election.
The designation of a liaison member may be withdrawn or changed at any time by majority vote
of the city commission without cause. Designations of liaisons shall be in writing by the mayor
and filed with the city clerk. No commission liaison shall have a vote on any city committee nor
serve as chairman or vice-chairman of any committee unless otherwise provided by law. The city
commission may adopt by resolution additional guidelines regarding liaison positions, not in
conflict with this section.
