R2003-155 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING SEVEN REGULAR MEMBERS TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD TO SERVE ONE-YEAR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 25, 2004; APPOINTING TWO ALTERNATE MEMBERS TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD TO SERVE ONE-YEAR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 25, 2004; APPOINTING A CHAIRPERSON TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing seven regular members, two alternate members, and a chairperson to the Parks and Recreation Board to serve one-year terms expiring June 25, 2004; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 15-41 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A) the Parks and Recreation Board shall consist of seven regular members and two alternate members who shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve one-year terms; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 15-43 (attached hereto as Exhibit B) of the Tamarac Code, the City Commission shall appoint a Chairperson for the Parks and Recreation Board; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint Temp. Reso. #10084 Page 2 March 19, 2003 seven regular members, two alternate members, and a Chairperson to the Parks and Recreation Board to serve one-year terms expiring June 25, 2004. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 15-41 of the Tamarac Code, the following people are hereby appointed as regular members of the Parks and Recreation Board to serve one-year terms expiring June 25, 2004, or until such time as reappointments are made: Andrew M. Flaxman Joseph LaPlaca Dorothy Murphy Ilene Singer Jerome Ginsberg Mervyn Mickey Levine Walter Siegel SECTION 3: That pursuant to Section 15-41 of the Tamarac Code, the following people are hereby appointed a alternate members of the Parks and Recreation Board to serve one-year terms expiring June 25, 2004, or until such time as reappointments are made: Bernard F. Barrineau Floyd E. Bass, Jr. E 1 E 1 iJ Temp. Reso. #10084 Page 3 March 19, 2003 SECTION 4: That pursuant to Section 15-43 of the Tamarac Code, the following person is appointed as Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation Board: Jerome Ginsberg SECTION 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 251" day of June 2003.
