CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO, R2003-24
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ENCOURAGING BROWARD COUNTY'S
SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE FOR THE MARCH 11, 2003
GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK
TO SEND COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE BROWARD
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, BROWARD COUNTY MANAGER
ROGER DESJARLAIS, AND ALL BROWARD COUNTY
MUNICIPALITIES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Supervisor of Elections' office struck many obstacles during
the September 2002 election; and
WHEREAS, it became obvious at that time that the Supervisor of Elections
was unable to perform the duties of the office to which she was elected with any
degree of proficiency without outside assistance; and
WHEREAS, the appointment of a knowledgeable Deputy Supervisor of
Elections and the generous assistance of Broward County employees brought forth
a relatively uneventful November 2002 election; and
WHEREAS, the Deputy Supervisor of Elections is no longer affiliated with the
Broward County Supervisor of Elections' Office, thereby creating a great concern
among the cities regarding the handling and outcome of the upcoming March 11,
2003 General Municipal Elections; and
WHEREAS, one of the prime tenets of democracy is to provide every citizen
the right to vote, and to assure citizens that the election process will run smoothly
and with a minimal amount of trouble; and

WHEREAS, the window of opportunity for cities to gear up and run their own
elections without assistance from the Supervisor of Elections and Broward County
has passed; and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary for the cities to look to Broward County
for their support and assistance during the upcoming March 11, 2003 General
Municipal Elections; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to look to the
Broward County Commissioners for the support and assistance given during the
November 2002 election, and request Broward County to once again support and
assist Broward County municipalities during the March 11, 2003 General Municipal
Elections.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida
hereby encourages the Broward County Commission to support and assist Broward
County Municipalities in the March 11, 2003 General Municipal Election.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is hereby directed to send copies of this
Resolution to the Broward County Commissioners, Broward County Manager Roger
Desjarlais, and all Broward County municipalities.

SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
