CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2003- �S C.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE TOWN OF
DAVIE'S REQUEST THAT THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION'S WIDENING OF THE FLORIDA
TURNPIKE INCLUDE SOUND WALLS FROM SOUTHWEST
36T" STREET TO GRIFFIN ROAD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
CLERK TO PROVIDE A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO
EACH MEMBER OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION'S FLORIDA TURNPIKE ENTERPRISE,
THE BROWARD COUNTY METROPOLITAN PLANNING
ORGANIZATION, THE CITY OF PLANTATION, AND ANY
OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Transportation is studying the
possibility of widening the Florida Turnpike from six (6) lanes to ten (10) lanes by
adding a general lane and auxiliary lane in each direction, and it is reasonable to
expect that the traffic noise level will continue to escalate; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Davie has requested that the Florida Department of
Transportation address the concerns of the residents of the Town of Davie and include
sound walls in the widening of the Florida Turnpike from southwest 36" Street to Griffin
Road; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the
best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to support the Town of
Davie's request for the installation of sound walls.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City of Tamarac supports the Town of Davie's request to
the Florida Department of Transportation that sound walls be installed from southwest
361h Street to Griffin Road as part of the widening of the Florida Turnpike project
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac is hereby directed to
provide a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Florida Department of
Transportation's Florida Turnpike Enterprise, the Broward County Metropolitan
Planning Organization, the Town of Davie, and any other interested parties.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of
this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 22"d day of October, 2003.
