CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2003-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CITY OF
COCONUT CREEK'S REQUEST TO THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO TAKE
NECESSARY ACTION TO EFFECTIVELY MINIMIZE AND
BUFFER THE NOISE LEVEL ASSOCIATED WITH CURRENT
AND FUTURE TRAFFIC FROM THE SAWGRASS
EXPRESSWAY AND THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE IN THE CITY
OF COCONUT CREEK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK
TO PROVIDE A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO EACH
MEMBER OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION'S FLORIDA TURNPIKE ENTERPRISE,
THE BROWARD COUNTY METROPOLITAN PLANNING
ORGANIZATION, THE CITY OF COCONUT CREEK, AND
ANY OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Transportation is studying the
widening of the Sawgrass Expressway and the Florida Turnpike, and it is reasonable
to expect that the traffic noise level will continue to escalate; and
WHEREAS, the City of Coconut Creek has requested that the Florida
Department of Transportation address the concerns of the residents of the City of
Coconut Creek and include sound walls in the affected areas; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the
best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to support the City of
Coconut Creek's request for the installation of sound walls.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City of Tamarac supports the City of Coconut Creek's
request to the Florida Department of Transportation that sound walls be installed along
affected areas as part of the widening of the Sawgrass Expressway and the Florida
Turnpike.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac is hereby directed to
provide a copy of this Resolution to each member of the Florida Department of
Transportation's Florida Turnpike Enterprise, the Broward County Metropolitan
Planning Organization, the City of Coconut Creek, and any other interested parties.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of
this Resolution.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
