R-2003-284 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING ONE MEMBER TO THE SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD TO COMPLETE A ONE- YEAR TERM EXPIRING JUNE 25, 2004; APPOINTING TWO ALTERNATE MEMBERS TO THE SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD, SAID APPOINTMENTS BECOMING EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE AND ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE III, SECTION 2, DIVISION 7, SECTION 2-201 OF THE TAMARAC CODE, FOR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 25, 2004; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Beatres Lindenman was appointed to the Social Services Board to serve a one-year term via Resolution R2003-158, passed and adopted on June 25, 2003; and WHEREAS, on August 25, 2003, Beatres Lindenman resigned from the Social Services Board due to personal matters that precluded her from attending meetings; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Sections 2-201 and 2-202 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A), the Social Services Board shall consist of five members who shall be appointed by the City Commission on an annual basis; and Temp. Reso. #10238 August 27, 2003 Revision #1 December 15, 2003 Page 2 WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing one regular member to the Social Services Board to complete an unexpired one-year term and appointing two alternate members to the Social Services Board, said appointments becoming effective upon passage and adoption of an ordinance amending Article III, Section 2, Division 7, Section 2-201 of the Tamarac Code providing for creation of the Social Services Board; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint one member to the Social Services Board to complete an unexpired one-year term ending June 25, 2004 and to appoint two alternate members to the Social Services Board, said appointments becoming effective upon passage and adoption of an ordinance amending Article III, Section 2, Division 7, Section 2-201 of the Tamarac Code and said terms expiring June 25, 2004. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing WHEREAS clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Reso. #10238 August 27, 2003 Revision #1 December 15, 2003 Page 3 SECTION 2: That pursuant to Sections 2-201 and 2-202 of the Tamarac Code, the following person is hereby appointed as a member of the Social Services Board to complete an unexpired one-year term ending June 25, 2004, or until such time as reappointments are made: Ellen S. Amchin SECTION 3: That the following people are hereby appointed as alternate members to the Social Services Board, said appointments becoming effective upon passage and adoption of an ordinance amending Article III, Section 2, Division 7, Section 2-201 of the Tamarac Code providing for creation of the Social Services Board, adding two alternates to the Social Services Board: Marvin DeJean Ellen Beverly Maltz SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. There is created and established a social services board which shall be a permanent agency of the city and shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the city commission. (Code 1975, § 2-8(a)) Sec. 2-202. Membership; compensation; chairman. The members of the social services board shall be appointed by the city commission on an annual basis and serve at the pleasure of the city commission without compensation.
