R2003- 60 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING THE CITY OF TAMARAC'S APPRECIATION TO THE CITY OF FT. LAUDERDALE FOR ESTABLISHING THE CALL CENTER FOR THE MARCH 11, 2003 ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac along with many other Broward County municipalities held its general election on March 11, 2003; and WHEREAS, the City of Ft. Lauderdale held its primary election on February 11, 2003, and for this purpose created computer databases and a call center by which they were able to track the efforts of the Voting System Technicians (VSTs) as well as pickup and delivery of equipment and communication packs from the Regional Center, to the polling places and back again; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections so admired the efforts of the City of Ft. Lauderdale in creating the tracking software and the call center for their February 11, 2003 primary election, that Ft. Lauderdale was called upon by the Broward County Supervisor of Elections to replicate the process for the Broward County Municipalities' March 11, 2003 general election; 1 Temp. Reso. #10074 Page 2 March 14, 2003 Rev. #1 March 18, 2003 WHEREAS, the City of Ft. Lauderdale provided computer equipment, computer databases, radios, and the call center for the use of the Broward County municipalities who were involved in holding their individual March 11, 2003 general elections; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac availed itself of Ft. Lauderdale's call center during the March 11, 2003 general election, in order to track any potential problems that might have occurred in the voting precincts, pickup and delivery of election equipment, and opening and closing of the polling places; and WHEREAS, the City Commission and the City Manager of the City of Tamarac, deem it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to express its appreciation to the City of Ft. Lauderdale for the use of the call center for its March 11, 2003 general election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Lauderdale for providing the use of its call center, computer databases and radios during the March 11, 2003 general election. SECTION 3: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the City Manager and Elected Officials of the City of Ft. Lauderdale. SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
