RESOLUTION NO. R-2003-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA SUPPORTING OF THE CITY OF
PEMBROKE PINES AND THE CITY OF WESTON'S
OPPOSITION TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A PERMANENT
LOCATION FOR THE BROWARD COUNTY FAIR IN THE
TOWN OF SOUTHWEST RANCHES; DIRECTING THE CITY
CLERK TO TRANSMIT A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO VARIOUS LOCAL OFFICIALS; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has become aware of a proposal for Broward
County "County" to enter into an agreement with the Town of Southwest Ranches for the
County to lease property, at or near Southwest 202 Avenue and Sheridan Street, in order to
provide a permanent location for the annual Broward County Fair "Fair"; and
WHEREAS, according to the attendance figures from last year's Broward County
Fair, approximately 300,000 individuals attended the Broward County Fair; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pembroke Pines and the City of Weston have expressed
concern that the traffic generated by the individuals attending the Broward County Fair will
have an adverse impact to the citizens, residents, and motorists who use roads within the
City of Pembroke Pines and the City of Weston that will service the proposed location; and
WHEREAS, the City of Pembroke Pines and the City of Weston have passed
Resolutions opposing the establishment of a permanent location for the Broward County
Fair in the Town of Southwest Ranches; and

WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac wishes to express its concurrence with the City of
Pembroke Pines and the City of Weston's assessment that the establishment of a
permanent location for the Fair in the Town of Southwest Ranches is not in the best interest
of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens and residents of these communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City of Tamarac, Florida supports the City of Pembroke Pines
and the City of Weston's opposition to the establishment of a permanent location for the
Broward County Fair in the Town of Southwest Ranches.
SECTION 3: That the City Clerk is hereby directed to provide certified copies of this
Resolution to the Mayor of Southwest Ranches, the Broward County Board of
Commissioners and the Mayor of each municipality of Broward County, Florida.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application,
it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
