R-2002-010 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE PROVISION OF HIGH QUALITY FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES FOR THE RESIDENTS OF TAMARAC; SUPPORTING TAMARAC FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT IN THE DELIVERY OF EMERGENCY SERVICES TO OUR CITIZENS; SUPPORTING IMPROVEMENT OF FIRE RESCUE SERVICES THROUGHOUT BROWARD COUNTY; SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF HOME RULE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to provide the highest level fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the residents, businesses and visitors in our community; and WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Commission of Tamarac have made this commitment and have supported the growth of Tamarac Fire Rescue to deliver these services to our community; and WHEREAS, all residents of Tamarac and those throughout Broward County receive high quality fire rescue services from their chosen provider; and WHEREAS, Tamarac Fire Rescue has provided fire and first responder emergency medical services since 1975; and 1 Temp. Reso. #9643 December 19, 2001 Page 2 of 4 Revision #1 — December 20, 2001 WHEREAS, Tamarac Fire Rescue has continued to provide high quality fire services while improving EMS by providing advance life support transport services since 1996; and WHEREAS, The City and other Broward County emergency service providers recognize the need to share resources and assist one another in times of need; and WHEREAS, Tamarac and other emergency service agencies have cooperated in the areas of Mutual Aid, Automatic Aid, Communications, Training, Logistics, Medical Protocols, Fireground Operations, Hazardous Materials Response as well as other areas; and WHEREAS, the City supports the continued improvement in fire rescue services; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that Tamarac continue to support improved fire rescue service delivery and cooperation with other emergency service providers; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to support the right of any municipality to determine the system design for the delivery of emergency services to their community as well as the need to cooperate with other agencies to ensure the delivery of high quality emergency services. �l Temp. Reso. #9643 December 19, 2001 Page 3 of 4 Revision #1 — December 20, 2001 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac supports the provision of high quality Fire and Rescue services for the residents of Tamarac. SECTION 3: The City of Tamarac will continue to support Tamara-c Fire Rescue in the delivery of emergency services to our Citizens. SECTION 4: The City of Tamarac will continue to support improvements in the delivery of fire rescue services throughout Broward County. SECTION 5: The City of Tamarac will continue to support the concept of Home Rule. SECTION 6: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 7: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. 1 Temp.
