CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-2002-105
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PERMIT ANAND
MAHARAJ AND/OR DESIGNEE TO SERVE ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES DURING HIS WEDDING RECEPTION TO BE
HELD ON MAY 25, 2002 AT THE TAMARAC COMMUNITY
CENTER, 8601 WEST COMMERCIAL BOULEVARD;
PROVIDING FOR PROPER INSURANCE AND HOLD
HARMLESS AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Anand Maharaj, a Tamarac resident, has rented the Tamarac
Community Center Ballroom on May 25, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. to hold his
wedding reception; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of Anand Maharaj to provide alcoholic beverages to
the guests at his wedding reception from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, in Section 15-88 (a) of the City of Tamarac Code, it states that a
permit, for the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages at group functions, must be
obtained from the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City's Risk Management division will obtain the appropriate
levels of liability insurance coverage for this event; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation and the City Manager
recommend a permit be granted to Anand Maharaj and/or designee to serve alcoholic
beverages at the wedding reception at the Tamarac Community Center on May 25,
2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be
in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac, to permit
Anand Maharaj and/or designee to serve alcoholic beverages at the wedding reception
at the Tamarac Community Center on May 25, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
resolution.
SECTION 2: That the request to permit Anand Maharaj and/or designee to serve
alcoholic beverages at the wedding reception at the Tamarac Community Center on
May 25, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., provided all other appropriate permits are
applied for and approved, is HEREBY APPROVED.
SECTION 3: That proper insurance coverage and an executed hold harmless
Agreement be provided to the City for the event.
SECTION 4: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part of application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in

application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this 24th day of April, 2002.
