CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2002-106
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO APPROVE ADOPTION
OF A POLICY STATEMENT FOR THE SOLICITATION OF
PRIVATE SECTOR SUPPORT OF PUBLIC PROJECTS AND
PROGRAMS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is committed to providing successful events and
programs; and
WHEREAS, many times the funding for events and programs can be
supplemented by partnering with an outside individual, business or organization; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is desirous of adopting a policy statement for
the solicitation of private sector support of public projects and programs; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends adopting a policy
statement for the solicitation of private sector support of public projects and programs;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to adopt a policy
statement for the solicitation of private sector support of public projects and programs.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to approve
adoption and implementation of a policy statement for the solicitation of private sector
support of public projects and programs, attached hereto as "Exhibit A".
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this 24th day of April, 2002.

A POLICY STATEMENT FOR THE SOLICITATION OF PRIVATE SECTOR
SUPPORT OF PUBLIC PROJECTS AND PROGRAMS
I. General Policy Statement
The City Commission of the City of Tamarac recognizes the trend of
local government's increased involvement in developing public/private
partnerships for the delivery of programs to the public. Partnerships
with the private sector have been shown to enhance the ability of local
governments to respond to increased public needs in times of limited
resources. To foster successful partnerships, the City of Tamarac
encourages and supports the solicitation of private sector contributions
within guidelines established by this policy. All contributions shall be
used for the purpose of augmenting program and activity funding,
funding demonstration projects or establishing new programs and
activities where deemed appropriate. This policy is not meant to
replace current fiscal policy and practice that is in effect.

• Direct Funding
• Inkind services/professional services
• Equipment and supplies
• Real Estate
III. Source of Contributions
• Individuals and their estates
• Corporations, businesses, partnerships or sole proprietorships
• Public and private institutions and trusts
IV. Procedures for sponsorships
The administrative procedures by which sponsorships and
contributions will be governed will be contained in an Administration
Policy promulgated through the City Manager.
V. Acceptance of gifts
All gifts may be accepted and used only in accordance with applicable
law, and are accepted at the City's sole discretion.
