CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R2002-161
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING A
SISTER CITY ACCORD WITH FATSA, TURKEY;
AUTHORIZING ITS EXECUTION; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the concept of the Sister City, the pairing of cities in different
countries, is an important step in the mutual understanding between people and
nations; and
WHEREAS, the people of the United States and Turkey, and in particular
the residents of Tamarac and Fatsa, share a common commitment to freedom
and liberty; and
WHEREAS, the cities of Fatsa and Tamarac share a mutual interest in
economic development and enhancing the residents' lives and well-being; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fatsa extended hospitality to a delegation from the
City of Tamarac in May 2002 and the City of Tamarac hosted a delegation from
the City of Fatsa in June 2002; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to enter into
an accord with the city of Fatsa, Turkey, to formalize a sister city relationship
between Tamarac and Fatsa.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of
this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the sister city accord with Fatsa, Turkey, to encourage
mutual exchanges of interests among the residents of the two cities is hereby
approved, attached as Exhibit A.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

SISTER CITY ACCORD
THIS ACCORD made and entered into by and between:
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, U.S.A., a municipal corporation
organized under the Laws of Florida, hereinafter referred to as "TAMARAC"
THE CITY OF FATSA, TURKEY, hereinafter referred to as "FATSA"
HEREBY DECLARE THE FOLLOWING:
The concept of the Sister City, the pairing of cities in different countries, is
an important step in the mutual understanding between people and nations; and
The people of the United States and Turkey, and in particular the
residents of Tamarac and Fatsa, share a common commitment to freedom and
liberty; and
The cities of Fatsa and Tamarac share a mutual interest in economic
development and enhancing the residents' lives and well-being.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Tamarac and the City of Fatsa hereby
declare themselves to be Sister Cities.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the part' s have caused the execution of this Sister
City Accord on the day of 2002.
