CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2002-174
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE
PROPOSED EXTENSION OF THE SOUTH RUNWAY
9R/27L AT THE FORT LAUDERDALE — HOLLYWOOD
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to City of Fort Lauderdale Ordinance No. C-97-16
adopted July 1, 1997 which adopted a development order ("DO") for the
expansion of the Fort Lauderdale — Hollywood International Airport ("Airport");
and
WHEREAS, part of the expansion included Broward County's request to
extend the South Runway 9R/ 27L to 9,000 feet; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hollywood and Broward County along with the City
of Fort Lauderdale adopted development orders approving the airport expansion;
and
WHEREAS, the development orders reviewed the impact of the expansion
on surrounding areas and conditions were imposed in order to mitigate those
impacts; and
WHEREAS, Broward County has commenced the expansion of the Airport
in accordance with the DO, air operations are currently expanding based on the

development activities, and no action has yet been taken to construct the runway
expansion project, which would relieve the impacts of the current airport
expansion on neighboring properties; and
WHEREAS, the Airport has been a valuable asset to the region's growth
in manufacturing and tourism by providing air access to the region for
commercial, corporate, general aviation and military users and future economic
growth in Broward County requires the availability of reliable air service for these
users at the Airport; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it
to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to
support the extension of the South Runway 9R/27L at Fort Lauderdale -
Hollywood International Airport in accordance with the DO.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby
ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific
part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission supports the extension of the
South Runway 9R/27L at Fort Lauderdale — Hollywood International Airport in
accordance with the DO.

SECTION 3: That a copy of this Resolution shall be sent to the
Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the Council of
Civic Associations, the City of Dania Beach, the City of Fort Lauderdale and the
City of Hollywood.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
