R2002-193 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING EIGHT (8) OR MORE MEMBERS TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO SERVE ONE-YEAR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 24, 2003; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIRPERSON TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing eight (8) or more members to the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve one-year terms expiring June 24, 2003; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-223 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A) members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve one (1) year terms; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit B) the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall nominate a Chairperson, and said nominee shall be appointed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint eight (8) or more members to the Veterans Affairs Committee. Reso. #9708 Page 2 March 4, 2002 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS' clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 2-223 of the Tamarac Code, the following people are hereby appointed as members of the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve one (1) year terms expiring June 24, 2003, or until such time as reappointments are made: Seymour A. Bauer Norman H. Blau Joseph Brown Stanley J. Brown Miya Burt -Stewart Harry Cohen Nora Clark Gould Robert Horwith Bernard H. Jacobs Harvey Jefferbaum Mervyn Mickey Levine Murray Nathanson Stanley Rosenzweig Louis Rudowsky Hyman Sklar Martin Sucoff Dorothy K. Tanne SECTION 3: In accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code, the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall nominate a Chairperson, and the nominee shall be appointed by the City Commission, to serve a one-year term. 1 �J Temp. Reso. #9708 Page 3 March 4, 2002 SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 26t" day of June, 2002.
