R-2002-278 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING A CHAIRPERSON TO THE VETERANS AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO SERVE A ONE-YEAR TERM EXPIRING JUNE 26, 2003; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing a chairperson to the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve a one-year term expiring June 26, 2003; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-223 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A) the Veterans Affairs Committee shall consist of eight (8) or more members who shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve one (1) year terms; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit B) the Chairperson of the Veterans Affairs Committee shall be nominated by the members of the Veterans Affairs Committee and appointed by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, at the Veterans Affairs Committee meeting on September 11, 2002, Murray Nathanson was nominated by the members as Chairperson to the Veterans Affairs Committee; and and 1 WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and City Manager recommend approval; Temp. Reso. #9908 September 11, 2002 Page 2 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint a Chairperson to the Veterans Affairs Committee to serve a one-year term expiring June 26, 2003. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing WHEREAS clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 2-225 of the Tamarac Code, the following person is appointed as Chairperson of the Veterans Affairs Committee: Murray Nathanson SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. 11 1 0 1 1 Temp.
