Reso. #9937 Page 1 10/07/02 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA RESOLUTION NO, R-2002-- 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE PROJECT S.A.F,E. PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR A DONATION OF CELLULAR PHONE EQUIPMENT TO THE PROJECT S.A.F.E. PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, with the cooperation of the Broward Sheriff's Office, is in the process of implementing the Project S.A.F.E. (Senior Access For Emergencies) program; and WHEREAS, Project S.A.F.E. is a program that offers free cellular phones (only capable of dialing 911) to Tamarac residents age 60 and over; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to assist Project S.A.F.E. in enhancing the safety of senior Tamarac residents; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it in the public interest to donate surplus cell phone equipment from the City of Tamarac to assist with the implementation of the Project S.A.F.E. program; and WHEREAS, the City Commission authorizes the City Manager or designee to identify surplus cellular equipment in the City of Tamarac Information Technology Department for delivery to the Project S.A.F,E. program; and Temp. Reso. #9937 Page 2 10/07/02 WHEREAS, such equipment identified as surplus for the City of Tamarac and helpful to the Project S.A.F.E. program is listed in `Exhibit A'; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to assist the Project S.A.F.E. program in enhancing safety for senior Tamarac residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA- SECTION 11: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac supports the Project S.A.F.E. program. SECTION 3: A donation of the City of Tamarac surplus cellular equipment to the Project S.A.F.E. program, listed in "Exhibit A' is hereby approved. SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or, application„ it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
