CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2002 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A TOTAL
EXPENDITURE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $105,000
FOR THE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL
SERVICE CONNECTIONS BY FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT
FOR THE FIFTEEN (15) IRRIGATION PUMPS WHICH WILL
BE INSTALLED AS PART OF PHASE IV-B OF THE
COMPREHENSIVE STREET IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1998, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac approved
the Seven Year Comprehensive Street Improvement Program through the approval of
Resolution No. R98-227; and
WHEREAS, three phases of this Program, totaling approximately 101 miles of City
streets have already been completed; and
WHEREAS, the rehabilitation of an additional 22.81 miles of roads as a part of this
Program (Phase IV -A) is currently underway; and
WHEREAS, Phase IV-B of this Program will consist of the median beautification,
landscaping and irrigation of approximately 18 miles of roadway medians; and
WHEREAS, the irrigation systems included in this Phase must be in place prior to
the installation of landscaping materials in order to ensure the viability of the plant materials
after installation; and
WHEREAS, the fifteen (15) new irrigation pumps will need to be installed in orderto

provide the appropriate level of irrigation along the medians in Phase IV-B; and
WHEREAS, these new irrigation pumps will require electrical service connections
designed and installed by Florida Power & Light in order to operate, and
WHEREAS, Florida Power & Light has indicated that these service connections will
range from $1,000 to $7,000 per location and until each location is designed, a more
accurate cost estimate is not possible (see Exhibit 1"); and
WHEREAS, Florida Power & Light will phase the design and installation, addressing
three (3) to four (4) locations at each phase; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to issue purchase orders to Florida Power & Light
according the their estimated cost for this service at each phase, for a total not to exceed
$105,000 upon completion of all phases, and
WHEREAS, available funds exist in the Street Improvement Program budget for this
WHEREAS, it is recommended by the Public Works Director and the Assistant
Public Works Director that a total expenditure in an amount not to exceed $105,000 be
authorized for the design and installation by Florida Power & Light of electrical service
connections for the fifteen (15) irrigation pumps required for Phase IV-B; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize a total
expenditure in an amount not to exceed $105,000 for the design and installation by Florida
Power & Light of electrical service connections for the fifteen (15) irrigation pumps required
for Phase IV-B.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: A total expenditure in an amount not to exceed $105,000 for the
design and installation by Florida Power & Light of electrical service connections for the
fifteen (15) irrigation pumps being installed as part of Phase IV-B of the Comprehensive
Street Improvement Program is HEREBY APPROVED.
SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any provision of this Resolution or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions
or applications of this Resolution that can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Resolution are declared to be severable.

Dear Customer,
The purpose of this letter is to remind you of our previous meeting conversations and e-
ma ls. Tile approximate cost to provide service to each irrigation pump will rank
anywhere from $1,000 to about $7,000 (in the worst case escenerio). Once again this is
all approximate cost per pump, in addition we will need a reminder at least: 6 weeks for
cacti individual pump in order to allow for design time.
