CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R2002-342
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING FOUR REGULAR
MEMBERS TO THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO FILL
VACANCIES AND COMPLETE UNEXPIRED TERMS ENDING
JUNE 26, 2003; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Messrs. Herman R. Weiss, Walter Siegel and Joseph
LaPlaca, and Ms. Jeanette Rebhun were appointed to serve as regular members
of the Consumer Affairs Committee on June 26, 2002 (Resolution 2002-186,
attached as Exhibit "A"); and
WHEREAS, Messrs, Weiss, Siegel and LaPlaca have since resigned from
the Consumer Affairs Committee (Mr. Weiss' and Mr. LaPlaca's letters of
resignation attached as composite Exhibit "B"; Mr. Siegel gave a verbal
resignation to City Clerk's staff); and Ms. Rebhun is deemed to have resigned in
accordance with Section 2-111(b) of the Tamarac Code due to her failure to
attend three (3) consecutive meetings without being excused by the chairman;
and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Sections 2-106 and 2-107" of the Tamarac
Code (attached hereto as Exhibit "C") the Consumer Affairs Committee shall
consist of nine (9) regular members and two alternate members, appointed by
the City Commission to serve one year terms; and
WHREAS, it is necessary to appoint four members to the Consumer
Affairs Committee to fill vacancies and complete the unexpired terms of Messrs.
Weiss, Siegel and LaPlaca, and Ms. Rebhun; and

WHEREAS, the Public Information Officer and City Manager recommend
approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint
four regular members to the Consumer Affairs Committee to fill vacancies and
complete unexpired terms ending June 26, 2003.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct, and are hereby made a specific part of
this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 2-107 of the Tamarac Code, the
following people are hereby appointed as regular members of the Consumer
Affairs Committee to fill vacancies and complete unexpired terms ending June
26, 2003, or until such time as reappointments are made:
David Bernstein
Stanley Brown
Victoria Druding
Seymour Lederkramer
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 9th day of December 2002.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING NINE (9)
MEMBERS TO THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
TO SERVE ONE-YEAR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 24,
2003; APPOINTING TWO (2) ALTERNATE MEMBERS TO
THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO SERVE
ONE-YEAR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 24, 2003;
APPOINTING A CHAIRPERSON TO THE CONSUMER
AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO SERVE A ONE-YEAR TERM
EXPIRING JUNE 24, 2003; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing nine (9) members,
two (2) alternate members and a Chairperson to the Consumer Affairs Committee to
serve one-year terms expiring June 24, 2003; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Sections 2--106 and 2-107 of the Tamarac Code
(attached hereto as Exhibit A) the Consumer Affairs Committee shall consist of nine (9)
members and two (2) alternate members who shall be appointed by the City
Commission to serve one-year terms; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-107 of the Tamarac Code, the
Chairperson of the Consumer Affairs Committee shall be appointed by the City
Commission; and

a one-year term expiring June 24, 2003 or until such time as reappointments are made:

Sec.2-106. Creation.
There is created and established a consumer affairs committee which shall be a permanent agency of
the city and which shall consist of nine (9) members and two (2) alternate members appointed by the
city commission.
(Code 1975, § 2-5(a); Ord. No. 91-2, § 1, 2-27-91)
Sec. 2-107. Membership; compensation; chairman.
The members of the consumer affairs committee shall be appointed by the city commission on an
annual basis and serve at the pleasure of the city commission without compensation. The chairman of
the committee shall be appointed by the city commission.
