CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R2002-346
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING ONE REGULAR MEMBER
TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD TO COMPLETE AN
UNEXPIRED TERM ENDING JUNE 26, 2003; APPOINTING TWO
ALTERNATE MEMBERS TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION
BOARD TO SERVE UNTIL JUNE 26, 2003; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Sections 15-41 and 15-43 of the Tamarac Code (attached as
Exhibit "A") provide for appointment of seven members and a Chairperson to the
Parks and Recreation Board, who shall be appointed by the City Commission to
serve one year terms; and
WHEREAS, on October 28, 2002, Robert L. Wolfe, Jr. tendered his
resignation from the Parks and Recreation Board (attached as Exhibit "B"); and
WHEREAS, during the Special City Commission meeting of September
25, 2002, discussion was held regarding the addition of two alternate members to
the Parks and Recreation Board ; and
WHEREAS, as a result of that discussion Temporary Ordinance 1983 was
drafted and brought before the City Commission for first reading on October 9,
2002 and for second reading and public hearing on October 23, 2002; and
WHEREAS, upon adoption at second reading Temporary Ordinance 1983
was assigned the permanent number of Ordinance No. 0-2002-25, (attached as
Temp. Reso. #9958

Exhibit "C") which Ordinance amends Section 15-41 of the Tamarac Code by
adding two alternate members to the Parks and Recreation Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing one regular
member to the Parks and Recreation Board to complete an unexpired term
ending June 26, 2003, and appointing two alternate members to the Parks and
Recreation Board to serve until June 26, 2003, or until such time as
reappointments are made, and thereafter appoint regular and alternate members
to the Parks and Recreation Board to serve one-year terms; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and City Manager
recommend approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint
one regular member to the Parks and Recreation Board to complete an
unexpired term ending June 26, 2003, and two alternate members to the Parks
and Recreation Board to serve the remainder of the term expiring June 26, 2003,
or until such time as reappointments are made, and thereafter appoint seven
regular members and two alternate members to the Parks and Recreation Board
to serve one-year terms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of
this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 15-41 of the Tamarac Code,
providing for the appointment of regular members to the Parks and Recreation
Board, the following person is hereby appointed as a regular member of the
Parks and Recreation Board to complete an unexpired term ending June 26,
2003, or until such time as reappointments are made:

SECTION 3: That pursuant to Ordinance 0-2002-25, passed and adopted
by the City Commission on October 23, 2002, which Ordinance amends Section
15-41 of the Tamarac Code, providing for the appointment of two alternate
members to the Parks and Recreation Board, the following people are appointed
as alternate members of the Parks and Recreation Board to serve until June 26,
2003 or until such time as reappointments are made:

Floyd Bass
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.

SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

Sec.15-41. Creation.
There is hereby created the parks and recreation board which shall consist of seven (7)
members appointed by the city commission.
(Code 1975, § 18A-8(a))
Sec.15-43. Membership.
The members of the parks and recreation board shall be appointed by the city commission on
an annual basis and serve at the pleasure of the commission without compensation. The
chairman of the board shall be appointed by the city commission.

I have re -located within Broward County to the City of Fort Lauderdale. My new address

I have very much enjoyed getting to know the City of Tamarac and will continue to

ORDINANCE NO. 0-2002-oK
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 15 OF THE
TAMARAC CODE, ENTITLED "PARKS AND RECREATION,"
ARTICLE II, "ADMINISTRATION", DIVISION 2, "PARKS AND
RECREATION BOARD", SECTION 15-41, "CREATION" BY
ADDING TWO ALTERNATE MEMBERS TO THE PARKS
AND RECREATION BOARD; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Code provides that the Parks and Recreation Board shall
consist of seven (7) members appointed by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, through an expression of interest at the Special City Commission
meeting held on September 25, 2002, the City Commission has determined that the Parks
and Recreation Board should also consist of two (2) alternate members in addition to the
seven (7) regular members; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in the
best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that Section 15--41 of the
Tamarac Code be amended to add two (2) alternate members to the Parks and Recreation
:63 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA-

SECTION 1: That the foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: That Chapter 15 of the Tamarac City Code, entitled "Parks and
Recreation", Article II, "Administration", Division 2, "Parks and Recreation Board" is hereby
amended as follows:
Section 15-41. Creation.
There is hereby created the parks and recreation board which shall consist of
seven (7) r_egular members and two 2 alternate members appointed by the city
commission.
SECTION 3: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby
ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this
Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to
"Section", "Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention.
SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and Resolutions or parts
of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions
or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.
