R-2001-212 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING REQUESTS FROM THE TAMARAC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR INKIND SUPPORT AND TO WAIVE ALL PERMIT FEES AND OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE FEES FOR THE TAMARAC DAYS EVENTS TO BE HELD AT TAMARAC PARK ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2001 FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M., AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2001 FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Manager's Office has received a request from the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce to waive all permit fees and Occupational License Fees for their events for Tamarac Day and for certain inkind support services (attached as Exhibit A); and WHEREAS, the Tamarac Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization and requests waiver of all permit fees and Occupational License Fees; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, wishes to continue to support the Chamber of Commerce for this Community Event; and WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation, Building Official,and Director of Community Development recommend approval of the request to waive all permit fees and Occupational License Fees and for the City of Tamarac to provide certain inkind support services for the Tamarac Days events to be held October 27-28, 2001; and Temp. Reso #9471 - July 2, 2001 Page 2 Rev. #1 - 8/6/01 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the request for waiver of all permit fees and Occupational License Fees and to provide certain inkind support services for the Tamarac Days events to be held October 27-28, 2001. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the request to waive all permit fees and Occupational License Fees and to provide certain inkind services, said inkind services listed below, for the Tamarac Days events to be held at Tamarac Park on Saturday, October 27, 2001 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 28, 2001 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is HEREBY APPROVED. 1) Provision of Show mobile 2) Temporary Fencing 3) Fifty (50) traffic cones and Fifty (50) barricades 4) Small sound system 5) Supply volunteers for the setup and breakdown of event 6) One flatbed cart with driver for ice/beverages 7) Provision of two (2) City buses, with drivers, to transport people from parking to event area Saturday 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. Chamber of Commerce to reimburse City for driver wages. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Temp. Reso #9471 - July 2, 2001 Page 3 Rev. #1 - 8/6/01 SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. Reso. #9471 Exhibit A - Page 1 TAMARA- Chamber of Commerce 4 June 19, 2001 cG s PC Jeffrey Miller City Manager, City of Tamarac 7525 NW 88th Avenue Tamarac, FL 33321 Dear Jeff: The Chamber is currently planning Tamarac Days scheduled for Saturday, October 27"' from 10:00 — 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 h from 10:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. In an effort to build on last year's success we are adding some new features to this years festival. A PT Cruiser Show is planned on Saturday with a Harley Davidson Motorcycle Show on Sunday. A concert will be held on both Saturday and Sunday. The festival will also feature a business expo, arts & crafts exhibits, a children's area, public safety demonstrations as well as many other features highlighting our city's many great qualities. We respectfully request that the following fees be waived: *All building permits fees *All license fees *All outside vendor fees *All banner fees *Inspection fees We would also like to request the following support from the City: *Show mobile *Teen club to assist with set-up and tear down *Temporary fencing *City to provide two City buses for parking to *Fifty traffic cones event *Fifty barricades * 1 flatbed cart w/driver for ice/beverage *Security transportation & garbage & grounds pickup *Small sound system for use at expo The city will be allotted all space needed to display city information and public promotion. We are requesting a variance to provide beer at this year's event. We feel this is vital to the financial success of the event.
