CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-2001-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PERMIT RAINBOW'S
END CHARITIES AND/OR DESIGNEE TO SELL AND
SERVE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT THEIR FIRST
ANNUAL SWEETHEART BALL, BENEFITTING THE
AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION, AT THE TAMARAC
COMMUNITY CENTER, 8601 WEST COMMERCIAL
BOULEVARD, ON FEBRUARY 17, 2001 FROM 6:00 P.M.
THROUGH 11:00 P.M.; PROVIDING FOR PROPER
INSURANCE AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, rents facilities to residents to hold
functions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Florida, has rented the Community Center
Ballroom to Rainbow's End Charities for the purpose of holding a fundraising dinner and
show to benefit the American Diabetes Association; and
WHEREAS, Rainbow's End Charities has contracted with a caterer for the event
and wishes to serve and sell alcoholic beverages to the attendees of this event; and
WHEREAS, in Section 15-88 (a) of the City of Tamarac Code, it states that a
permit, for the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages at group functions must be
obtained from the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City's Risk Management department will insure the appropriate
levels of insurance coverage for this event will be obtained; and

WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Director and the City Manager
recommend a permit be granted to Rainbow's End Charities and/or designee to sell and
serve alcoholic beverages at the Sweetheart Ball event provided all other appropriate
permits are applied for and approved; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac, to permit
Rainbow's End Charities and/or designee to sell and serve alcoholic beverages at the
Sweetheart Ball event at the Tamarac Community Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The
foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are
hereby
ratified
and
confirmed as being true
and correct and are hereby made a
specific
part of
this
resolution.
SECTION 2: That subject to the conditions in Section 3, the request to permit
Rainbow's End Charities and/or designee to sell and serve alcoholic beverages at the
Sweetheart Ball event from 6:00 p.m. — 11:00 p.m. on Saturday February 17, 2001, to
benefit the American Diabetes Association at the Tamarac Community Center, provided
all other appropriate permits are applied for and approved is HEREBY APPROVED.
SECTION 3: That insurance coverage in a form and amount acceptable to the
City's Risk Manager and an executed hold harmless agreement in a form acceptable to
the City's Risk Manager be provided to the City before the event.

SECTION 4: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part of application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 14 day of February, 2001.
