RESOLUTION NO. R-2001-327
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA APPROVING THE SERVICE FEES
FOR MEDICAL TRANSPORT, FIRE INSPECTIONS,
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, SPECIAL HAZARDS, PUBLIC
EDUCATION, FIRE ALARMS, AND SPECIAL DETAILS,
COMMENCING DECEMBER 1, 2001; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is providing services including, but not limited to, Advanced
Life Support Transport, Fire Inspections, Plan Review, and Emergency Responses in the City of
Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City Code Section 7-29(f) requires service fees to be established by
resolution and the City must determine rates for services; and
WHEREAS, medical treatment and transportation services are provided by the Tamarac Fire
Rescue Department and the cost for each patient transported is established at a reasonable and
competitive rate; and
WHEREAS, Tamarac Fire Rescue conducts plan reviews, construction inspections and
annual inspections and a fair portion of the costs for these services should be paid by the occupants
being inspected and the size and complexity of the occupancy are indicators of the effort and time
needed to complete; and
WHEREAS, other requests for assistance can be varied, these costs should be based on
time and materials; and

WHEREAS, the service fees are periodically reviewed and amended to ensure that they
reflect the time and effort in providing the services and the proposed changes are competitive and
appropriately reflect the costs associated with each service; and
WHEREAS, the plan review fee should include the associated safety inspections, and
should be revised to establish a minimum and maximum fee based on the size of the structure
under construction and should include an incremental fee, between the minimum and maximum,
based on the square footage of the structure which can be applied to all plans; and
WHEREAS, plan review fees for special systems such as automatic sprinklers, standpipes,
and fire alarms will cover the cost of these technical inspections; and
WHEREAS, the education fee will establish a mechanism to support the continuing
education of fire inspectors; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and the Director of Finance recommend the adoption of the fee
structure effective December 1, 2001; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize the fire rescue
services fee schedule for services commencing on December 1, 2001.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
As being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution.
SECTION 2: That Fire Rescue fees currently levied shall remain in place until the following
fees become effective and that Fire Rescue fees for service provided in the City of Tamarac,

effective December 1, 2001, shall be as follows:
EMS
BLS Emergency Transport $310.00
ALS Emergency Transport $335.00

Non Emergency Patient Assist (after 3 in a six month period) $ 50.00

SECTION 3: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not effect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
