R-2001-356 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING FOUR (4) MEMBERS TO THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO COMPLETE ONE-YEAR TERMS EXPIRING JUNE 27, 2002; APPOINTING ONE (1) ALTERNATE MEMBER TO THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TO COMPLETE A ONE-YEAR TERM EXPIRING JUNE 27, 2002; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing four (4) members, and one (1) alternate member to the Consumer Affairs Committee to complete one-year terms expiring June 27, 2002; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Sections 2-106 and 2-107 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A) the Consumer Affairs Committee shall consist of nine (9) members and two (2) alternate members who shall be appointed by the City Commission to serve one-year terms; and WHEREAS, the Public Information Officer and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint four Temp. Reso. #9598 November 5, 2001 Page 2 (4) members and one (1) alternate member to the Consumer Affairs Committee to complete one-year terms expiring June 27, 2002, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing WHEREAS clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Section 2-107 of the Tamarac Code, the following people are hereby appointed as members of the Consumer Affairs Committee to complete one-year terms expiring June 27, 2002, or until such time as reappointments are made: Margaret T. Clark Robert P. Franklin Joyce Darlene Hill Elizabeth J. Kennedy SECTION 3: That pursuant to Section 2-107 of the Tamarac Code, the following person is hereby appointed as an alternate member of the Consumer Affairs Committee to complete a one-year term expiring June 27, 2002 or until such time as reappointments are made: Varlene Hamilton SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Reso. #9598 November 5, 2001 Page 3 SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this 28th day of November, 2001. ATTEST. There is created and established a consumer affairs committee which shall be a permanent agency of the city and which shall consist of nine (9) members and two (2) alternate members appointed by the city commission. (Code 1975, § 2-5(a); Ord. No. 91-2, § 1, 2-27-91) Sec. 2-107. Membership; compensation; chairman. The members of the consumer affairs committee shall be appointed by the city commission on an annual basis and serve at the pleasure of the city commission without compensation.
