R2001-40 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPOINTING ONE (1) MEMBER TO THE AMBULANCE COMMITTEE TO FILL AN UNEXPIRED TERM ENDING JUNE 26, 2001; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of appointing one (1) member to the Ambulance Committee to fill an unexpired term ending June 26, KII111111 WHEREAS, in accordance with Sections 2-233 and 2-234 of the Tamarac Code (attached hereto as Exhibit A) the Ambulance Committee shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be appointed by the City Commission on an annual basis; and WHEREAS, the Fire Chief and City Manager recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to appoint one (1) member to the Ambulance Committee to fill an unexpired term ending June 26, 2001. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: 0 Temp. Reso. #9298 Page 2 February 23, 2001 SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That pursuant to Sections 2-233 and 2-234 of the Tamarac Code, the following person is hereby appointed as a member of the Ambulance Committee to fill an unexpired term ending June 26, 2001, or until such time as reappointments are made: Leonard Botwinick SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. No. 91-26, § 11, 7-10-91) DIVISION 10. AMBULANCE COMMITTEE Sec. 2.233. Creation. There is created and established an ambulance committee which shall be a permanent agency of the city and which shall consist of seven (7) mem- bers appointed by the city council. (Ord. No. 93-33, § 2, 12-22-93) Sec. 2.234. Membership; compensation. The members of the ambulance committee shall be appointed by the city council on an annual basis and serve at the pleasure of the city council without compensation. (Ord. No. 93-33, § 3, 12-22-93) Sec. 2.234.1. Powers and duties. The ambulance committee shall be authorized to research and report to the city council on mat- ters related to ambulance and emergency medical services. The ambulance committee may perform such other duties as may be prescribed by resolu- tion by the city council. (Ord. No. 93-33, § 4, 12-22-93) Sec. 2-234.2. Meetings. (a) The ambulance committee shall conduct its meetings pursuant to Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised, and all applicable laws. A quorum shall consist of a majority of the membership. (b) The committee shall meet at the request of the chairperson or a majority of the members upon no less than forty-eight hours notice to each member and the public. (Ord. No. 93-33, § 5, 12-22-93) Sec. 2-234.3. Liaisons. (a) Council liaison. The ambulance committee may have a council liaison pursuant to the provi- sions of section 2-33. (b) Staff liaison. The ambulance committee may have a staff person assigned to it by the city man- Supp. No. 14 $ 2-234.13 ager to serve in an advisory capacity. Any re- quests on the part of the committee for informa- tion or services from the administration shall be made by the chairman of the committee to the city manager or through the staff liaison if one is assigned. (Ord. No. 93-33, § 6, 12-22-93) Sec. 2-234.4. Vacancies. (a) Removal of members. An ambulance com- mittee member appointed by the city council serves at the pleasure of the city council and shall be removed at any time by majority vote of the city council. (b) Resignation of members. A resignation by a committee member made either orally or in writing will be deemed accepted by the city council when the committee member announces his res- ignation to the committee, city manager or city council. The city council need not take any formal action to accept the resignation. Failure to attend three (3) consecutive meetings without being ex- cused by the chairman shall be deemed a resig- nation.
