R 99-_aq A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE TRAINING SERVICES FROM COMP USA AT A RATE OF $650 PER CLASS, NOT TO EXCEED $15,000, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, there are over two hundred employees that have access to and utilize computers throughout the City; and WHEREAS, it is imperative to provide training on the Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Access) that are currently in use to better take advantage of the technology; and WHEREAS, quotations were solicited from three local companies, which are attached hereto as Exhibit I, II, and III, for providing ongoing training sessions at the vendor's location as listed below: CompUSA $650 Per Class Executrain of Florida $1,185 Per Class New Horizon Computer Learning Ctr $1,320 Per Class WHEREAS, CompUSA provides a convenient Plantation location for City employees; and WHEREAS, the Director of MIS and Purchasing/Contracts Manager recommend 1 Temp. Reso. #8666 07/12/99 Page 2 utilizing CompUSA for providing computer related training to the City of Tamarac employees. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to purchase software training services from Comp USA at a rate of $650 per class. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the City authorizes the purchase of software training services from Comp USA at a rate of $650 per class for an amount not to exceed $15,000 for the remainder of fiscal year 1999. SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any provision of this Resolution or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Resolution that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Resolution are declared to be severable. We will hold classes dedicated to The City of Tamarac staff, at CompUSA locations. There will be a maximum of 12 students per class. The classes are 6 hours long, to be ht:ld either during the day from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M or over 2 evenings from • 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Weekend classes can also be held • Each student will receive one workbook per class, which is Microsoft approved courseware. One year Phone support is also off !red for each student taking a class. A retake policy of 90 days is also offered. City of Tamarac staff would simply register and attend one of CompUSA's regularly scheduled classes, bringing back their original workbook. *Note- if necessary, CompUSA can customize these dedicated classes to better suit the needs of the City's staff. *Note- The CompUSA Plantation locatloa which is located an Sunrise Blvd. And Flamingo Road is the closest CompUSA to the City of Tamarac. Prime Approximately 50-80 dedicated classes are to be held. Based upon this projection, a price per dedicated class will be $650.00. *Note- CompUSA can assist /ou in choosing appropriate dates for the City's staff, and can help with the calendar used for enrolling students.
