CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-99- c� 20
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF
PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE
COVERAGE WITH THE FLORIDA
MUNICIPAL INSURANCE TRUST WITH AN
EFFECTIVE POLICY DATE OF OCTOBER 1,
1999, PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the property/casualty insurance policies listed in Exhibit A
have an anniversary date of October 1, 1999; and
WHEREAS, during this renewal period, Florida Municipal Insurance Trust
(hereinafter referred to as "FMIT"), and four other carriers submitted proposals
after the City issued an RFP; and
WHEREAS, two of the quotes received were non -responsive in that they
failed to quote any property coverage or Paramedic's Professional Liability; and
WHEREAS, two other quotes received had a number of disadvantages
inherent in their programs as compared with the incumbent carrier's, FMIT,
program; and
WHEREAS, the FMIT provides payment for all defense costs incurred
with the City being only responsible for settlement and judgement costs up to
$25,000 per claim; and

WHEREAS, the FMIT provides an aggregate loss protection program;
WHEREAS, the FMIT quoted a fully insured Workers' Compensation
program deemed to be cost-effective after a careful analysis of past losses; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Risk Manager to renew
coverage with the FMIT due to scope of coverage afforded, aggregate excess
protection, and coverage form provided; and
WHEREAS, City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to
be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to
renew the City's property/casualty insurance program with the FMIT.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby
ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific
part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac,
authorize the renewal of the City's property/casualty insurance program with the
FMIT as listed in Exhibit A in accordance with the premiums listed in Exhibit A,
under the FMIT heading.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: In any clause, section, or other part or application of
this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be

unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage and adoption.
