R99-, �7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE MARCH 9, 1999 GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE CHARTER BOARD DISTRICTS 1, 3, 4, AND AT -LARGE POSITIONS; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a General Election was held on March 9, 1999, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for the Office of Charter Board Representative from District 3 for a two-year term; and WHEREAS, candidates for Charter Board positions from Districts 1 and 4, and the at -large position ran unopposed; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the results of the machine voting and the absentee ballots, and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has reviewed the certification from the County Canvassing Board and has presented her findings to the City Commission for a formal Certification and Declaration of the results. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Reso. #8550 Page 2 March 11, 1999 SECTION 2: The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Charter Board Representative from District 3 at the General Election held March 9, 1999: Diane B. Glasser 3,319 Edward Klein Diane B. Glasser, having received the highest number of votes cast is, therefore, declared to have been elected as Charter Board Representative from District 3 for a term of two (2) years. SECTION 3: Murray L. Schwartzman, having run unopposed for the Charter Board position from District 1, has been duly elected to that position for a term of two years. SECTION 4: Berk Buckley, having run unopposed for the Charter Board position from District 4, has been duly elected to that position for a term of one year. SECTION 5: Benjamin D. Hutt, having run unopposed for the at -large Charter Board position, has been duly elected to that position for a term of two years. SECTION 6: Murray Schwartzman, Diane B. Glasser, Bert Buckley and Benjamin D. Hutt shall take office in accordance with the provisions of Section 2- 27 of the City Code. SECTION 7: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. 1 Temp. Reso. #8550 Page 3 March 11, 1999 SECTION 8: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 9: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 16th day of March, 1999.
