CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-99-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ENDORSING A CHANGE OF
MUNICIPAL ELECTION DAY FROM MARCH TO
NOVEMBER, REQUESTING THAT THE BROWARD
COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION PUT FORTH ALL
NECESSARY LEGISLATION TO ENACT SAID CHANGE,
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 75-350 as amended in Chapter 76-336, Laws of
Florida, all general elections relating to a municipal office held in a municipality in Broward
County shall be held on the second Tuesday in March of the calendar year; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 75-350 and Chapter 76-336 are special acts of the Florida
Legislature relating to Broward County and to change the City election date from March
to November would require a similar act of the State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, election turnout for March elections is traditionally very low; and
WHEREAS, more people are familiar with and would vote on elections held on the
first Tuesday after the first Monday in November; and
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of all citizens and governments in Broward County
to have one general election for Federal, State, County, and municipal offices in
November; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best

interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to have the municipal election
date changed from March to November.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac endorses
changing the City election day from the second Tuesday in March to the first Tuesday,
after the first Monday in November.
SECTION 3: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac requests that the
Broward County Delegation put forward all necessary legislation to change the election
day for municipalities from March to November.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is directed to forward copies of this resolution to
all members of the Broward County delegation, and to all municipalities in Broward County.
SECTION 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.

SECTION 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
