A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING CITY STAFF TO WORK WITH BROWARD COUNTY TO MAKE LAND ADJACENT TO THE PROPOSED TAMARAC SENIOR AND COMMUNITY CENTER ON COMMERICAL BOULEVARD AVAILABLE TO THE COUNTY FOR A LIBRARY FACILITY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is a city of avid readers; and WHEREAS, the current library facilities in the City of Tamarac are over -utilized and in need of expansion; and WHEREAS, in March of 1999 Broward County voters approved a Library Bond Issue making funds available for the construction of library facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is in the process of building a Senior and Community Center on Commercial Boulevard to serve the needs of area residents; and WHEREAS, sufficient real property exists adjacent to the Senior and Community Center that could be ideally utilized for a library facility; and WHEREAS, Broward County is willing to work with the City of Tamarac to utilize bond funds to build a library on the City owned property adjacent to the proposed Senior and Community Center; and IJ 1-1 1-1 2 Temp. Reso. #8597 April 14, 1999 WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac for the City of Tamarac to work with Broward County to build a library facility on City of Tamarac land adjacent to the proposed Tamarac Senior and Community Center. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac authorizes and directs city staff to work with Broward County to make available to Broward County land adjacent to the proposed Tamarac Senior and Community Center on Commercial Boulevard for construction of a library facility. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
