R-98- I,60 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA; AWARDING THE PURCHASE OF SCOTT 4.5 SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS, INCLUDING PAK ALERT KITS AND SPARE AIR CYLINDERS FROM SAFETY EQUIPMENT COMPANY, A SOLE SOURCE, AT A TOTAL COST OF FOURTEEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SEVENTY TWO DOLLARS ($14,672.00); FUNDING FROM THE FIRE RESCUE FUND; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Scott is the manufacturer of current self-contained breathing apparatus used by the city; and WHEREAS, Safety Equipment Company is the only authorized Scott sales and repair facility in Florida; and WHEREAS, the Fire Rescue Department is now adding an emergency response vehicle; and WHEREAS, the self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) need periodic maintenance and the Fire Rescue Department needs to maintain spare scba units; and WHEREAS, the total cost of purchasing four complete sets at a cost of ten thousand five hundred dollars ($10,500.00), including pak alert kits at a cost of one TEMP. RESO. 8238 Page 2 Revision #2: 5/5/98 thousand nine hundred ninety two dollars ($1992.00), with four extra bottles at a cost of Two thousand one hundred eighty dollars ($2,180.00), for a total cost of fourteen thousand six hundred seventy two dollars ($14,672.00); and WHEREAS, available funds exist in the Fire Rescue fund budget for said purpose; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Purchasing Officer that this purchase be awarded to Safety Equipment Company of America; and WHEREAS, City Code 36-151 allows the purchasing of noncompetitive supplies available from only one source when the best interest of the City will be served; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Tamarac to authorize the purchase of self-contained breathing apparatus from Safety Equipment Company. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing AWHEREAS- clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution. SECTION 2: Safety Equipment Company is awarded the purchase of four complete Scott 4.5 Breathing Apparatus sets, including pak alert kit, with four extra bottles for fourteen thousand six hundred seventy two dollars ($14,672.00). SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby 1 repealed to the extent of such conflict. TEMP. RESO. 8238 Page 3 Revision #2: 5/5/98 SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not effect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
