CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-98- %O
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC INFORMATION
AND EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR THE
COMMUNITY CENTER REFERENDUM,
AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING AND
APPROVING A TRANSFER FROM WITHIN
THE GENERAL FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF
$40,000; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, desires to
construct a community center to serve the recreational needs of the residents of
Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, as required by
Section 7.13 of the City Charter, has authorized a referendum for the construction and
financing of the community center be placed on the September 1, 1998 or subsequent
ballot; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to educate the
electorate on the community center referendum through a public information and
education program and authorizes funding in an amount not to exceed $40,000; and
WHEREAS, the public information and education program will consist of
appearances by the Mayor, City Commission, and staff to present facts and answer
questions surrounding the construction and financing of a new community center; and

WHEREAS, available funds exist in the General Fund Budget for said purpose;
WHEREAS, the funds will be spent for printed materials, advertising, and
postage to deliver information directly to Tamarac residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation
recommend approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interests of the City and residents of the City of Tamarac to establish and
fund a public information and education program on the community center
referendum.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARC, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
Section 2: That the establishment and funding of a public information and
education program on the community center referendum is hereby approved.
Section 3: A budget transfer in the amount of $40,000.00 from General Fund
account entitled, "Commission Contingency" to General Fund accounts entitled,
"Printing", "Postage", "Advertising", and "Promotional Activities" is hereby approved
for correct accounting purposes.
Section 4: Expenditure of funds is contingent upon the referendum being
placed on the September 1, 1998 ballot by the Supervisor of Elections.

Section 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of
this Resolution.
Section 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
