R-98- l q fl A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING "THE FRIENDS OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER" AND ACCEPTING 12 VOLUNTEERS TO BE "THE FRIENDS OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER" PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, desires to construct a community center to serve the recreational needs of the residents of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, as required by Section 7.13 of the City Charter, has authorized a referendum for the construction and financing of the community center be placed on the September 1, 1998 or subsequent ballot; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to establish "The Friends of the Community Center" to assist in a public information and education program to provide facts and answers in public forums and written materials for the community center referendum; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined "The Friends of the Community Center" should consist of two volunteers from each district and two at large volunteers or more; and WHEREAS, the activities of the of the group will commence on June 24, 1998 and dissolve upon the referendum vote; and Page 2 Temp. Reso. # 8308 Rev. # 4 — 6/25/98 WHEREAS, the City Manager and Director of Parks and Recreation recommend approval; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to establish "The Friends of the Community Center" and accept 12 volunteers to assist in this activity. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARC, FLORIDA: Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: That the "The Friends of the Community Center" is hereby established. Section 3: That the following volunteers shall commence their activities June 24 and will cease their activities upon the referendum vote. Jill Ducato Dorothy Murphy Irving R. Harrington Allen Perlman Helen Sobel Bernard James Rita Powers William Norkunas Section 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. 1 Page 3 Temp. Reso. # 8308 Rev. # 4 — 6/25/98 Section 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. Section 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
