CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-98- c2 23
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AWARDING THE PURCHASE OF
MORNING PRIDE BUNKER GEAR FROM SAFETY
EQUIPMENT COMPANY BASED ON THE BROWARD
GOVERNMENTAL COOPERATIVE PURCHASING GROUP
BID 97-009, AT A TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED
$13,178.40; FUNDING FROM THE FIRE RESCUE FUND,
PURSUANT TO SECTION 6-154 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Fire Rescue Department is in the process of hiring twelve
additional firefighters and needs to purchase fire fighting bunker gear; and
WHEREAS, Morning Pride Tailed Style bunker gear reduces the heat stress
firefighters are exposed to; and
WHEREAS, Safety Equipment Company is the only authorized distributor in
Florida; and
WHEREAS, Broward Governmental Cooperative Purchasing Group has
awarded Bid #97-009 to Safety Equipment Company for the purchase of Fire Protective
Clothing (exhibit "A"); and
WHEREAS, the cost of twelve sets of bunker gear is $13,178.40; and
WHEREAS, City Code §6-154 allows the Purchasing Officer to join other
governmental agencies in cooperative purchasing when the best interests of the City
would be served; and

WHEREAS, funds for this purchase have been budgeted in the Fire/Rescue fund;
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and Purchasing/Contracts
Manager that this purchase be awarded to Safety Equipment Company; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that the City
purchase twelve sets of firefighter Morning Pride bunker gear from Safety Equipment
Company, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: Safety Equipment Company is awarded the purchase of twelve
sets of Morning Pride bunker gear, at a total cost of $13,178.40.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.
