RESOLUTION NO. R-98- a2,251
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO PURCHASE
PORTABLE EMERGENCY REPEATERS AND
ACCESSORIES FROM MOTOROLA INC., BASED ON THE
PALM BEACH COUNTY BID SB 98C-192J, AT A TOTAL
COST OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY
FIVE DOLLARS ($15,885.00), PURSUANT TO SECTION 6-
155 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac was awarded a grant from the Florida Department
of Community Affairs, Division of Emergency Management for the purchase of emergency
radio repeaters; and
WHEREAS, radio communication equipment is needed to maintain communications
after a disaster; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac desires to purchase three (3) Motorola portable
repeaters at a cost of $2,296.00 each, three (3) local controls at a cost of $185.00, three
(3) revert options at a cost of $62.00 each, three (3) 3db gain antennas at a cost of
$417.00, three (3) 180' cables at a cost of $892.00, three (3) battery packs at a cost of
$780,00 each, three (3) line surge suppessors at a cost of $72.00 each, three (3) A/C
surge protectors at a cost of $86.00 each, and three (3) installations and training at a cost
of $86.00 each for a total cost of $15,885.00; and

WHEREAS, Motorola is the provider of the City of Tamarac's radio system; and
WHEREAS, Palm Beach County has awarded Bid #98C-192J (exhibit "A"), to
Motorola, Inc. for purchase of radios and supplies; and
WHEREAS, City Code §6-155 allows the Purchasing Officer waive purchasing
procedures and procure supplies, materials and equipment which are the subject of
contracts with the state, or with other governmental agencies; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase have been budgeted in the Grant fund; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief and Purchasing/Contracts
Manager that this purchase be awarded to Motorola, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that the City
purchase five portable radios and accessories from Motorola.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: Motorola is awarded the purchase of three (3) Motorola portable
repeaters at a cost of $2,296.00 each, three (3) local controls at a cost of $185.00, three
(3) revert options at a cost of $62.00 each, three (3) 3db gain antennas at a cost of
$417.00, three (3) 180' cables at a cost of $892.00, three (3) battery packs at a cost of
$780.00 each, three (3) line surge suppessors at a cost of $72.00 each, three (3) A/C
surge protectors at a cost of $86.00 each, and three (3) installations and training at a cost

of $86.00 each for a total cost of $15,885.00.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
