R-98 -a3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO SEEK GRANT FUNDING FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,000 FOR A TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $150,000 IN ORDER TO PROVIDE LANDSCAPE AND IRRIGATION IMPROVEMENTS ALONG UNIVERSITY DRIVE AND COMMERCIAL BOULEVARD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY CASH MATCH OF $75,000 TO BE ALLOCATED FROM THE GRANTS MATCHING ACCOUNT; PROVIDING FOR CCNFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac maintains median strips within Florida Department of Transportation sections of Commercial Boulevard between University Drive and Prospect Road, and University Drive between Commercial Boulevard and Southgate Boulevard; and WHEREAS, the existing irrigation system and landscaping within Commercial Boulevard medians need to be enhanced from NW 6411 Avenue up to Rock Island Road; and WHEREAS, the existing landscaping within University Drive medians between Commercial Boulevard and Southgate Boulevard needs to be enhanced; and WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation can fund beautification projects on Florida Department of Transportation owned roads with a fifty percent (50%) Temp. Reso. #8089 Page 2 December 11, 1997 Revised: January 7, 1998 match from the City; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac is willing to match the grant request of $75,000 with local funds in the amount of $75,000; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Director recommends that the City pursue the Florida Department of Transportation Highway Beautification Grant; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best interests of the of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to apply for a Highway Beautification Grant from the Florida Department of Transportation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are HEREBY ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are HEREBY made a specific part of this Resolution. SECTION 2: That the appropriate City officials are HEREBY authorized to seek grant funding from the Florida Department of Transportation in the amount of $75,000 with a cash match of $75,000 for a total project cost of $150,000 and complete all necessary actions. SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are HEREBY repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or Temp. Reso. #8089 Page 3 December 11, 1997 Revised: January 7, 1998 application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this R � day of � ,1998.
