R-98- (� A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO WRITE-OFF UNCOLLECTIBLE ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLES; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac believes that every reasonable effort should be made in collecting money due to the City; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac and the Government Finance Officer's Association recognizes that, at times, money due the City will be uncollectible; and WHEREAS, generally accepted accounting practices recommend that entities accurately record in the general ledger accounts receivable which debts are expected to be collected within a reasonable period, and those determined uncollectible; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac wishes to improve current accounting practices by following generally accepted accounting practices; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and Interim Director of Finance recommend approval; and Temp. Reso_ # 8356 September 18, 1998 Page 2 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize the City Manager and Director of Finance to write-off uncollectible accounts receivables. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution. Section 2: The City Manager and Director of Finance is hereby authorized to write-off uncollectible accounts receivables if, in their joint judgment, all reasonable collection efforts have been exhausted and the account is either deemed uncollectible or the amount owed does not warrant further collection efforts. Section 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this Resolution.
