CITY OF TAMARAC
RESOLUTION NO. R-98- „4 a
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER OR THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO SIGN
GRANT APPLICATIONS WHEN THE CITY COMMISSION IS
UNABLE TO CONVENE AND APPROVE THE GRANT
APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac is desirous to apply for
grant funds; and
WHEREAS, at times extenuating circumstances are such that grant applications
are completed with insufficient time for the City Commission to convene and approve
the grant application prior to the grant's submission date; and
WHEREAS, section 12.09 signatures to bonds, checks, contracts, etc. of the City
Charter enables the City Commission to delegate the execution of short term leases
and instruments by ordinance or resolution; and
WHEREAS, allowing the City Manager or the Director of Finance to sign grant
applications is prudent and appropriate and ensures that viable grant funding are being
sought; and

WHEREAS, following the submission of the grant application to the granting
agency, signed by the City Manager or the Director of Finance, the grant application
shall be brought before the City Commission for approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Interim Director of Finance recommend
approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to authorize the
City Manager and his designated representative to sign grant applications when the
City Commission is unable to convene and approve the grant application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
resolution.
Section 2: The City Manager or Director of Finance is hereby authorized to sign
grant applications when the City Commission is unable to convene and approve the
grant application.
Section 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this
Resolution.
Section 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
