CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R98-285
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, PROCLAIMING
A LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE CITY OF
TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac resolved that the
City Manager, in the absence of the Governor's Directive, may exercise
emergency powers enumerated in Florida's Emergency Management Act
appropriate to City government; and
WHEREAS, this same resolution provides that the City Manager, or his
designee, may declare that a STATE OF EMERGENCY exists in the City of
Tamarac, Florida; and
WHEREAS, it is the innate responsibility of the governing body of each
political subdivision of the State of Florida to safeguard the life and property of its
residents; and
WHEREAS, there exists or there continues to exist the possibility of a
disaster or emergency of unprecedented size and destructiveness resulting from
HURRICAN GEORGES; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager finds and determines that it is necessary to
ensure that preparations of the City of Tamarac will be adequate to deal with and
recover from this disaster or emergency.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA-
Section 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified
and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of
this Resolution.
Section 2: That a local STATE OF EMERGENCY exists in the City of
Tamarac, Florida.
Section 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.
Section 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
