CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-98- .3..3�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS OF
HOLLYWOOD FIRE/RESCUE AND BEACH SAFETY
DEPARTMENT TO AID VICTIMS OF HURRICANE MITCH IN
HONDURAS; PROVIDING FOR A DONATION OF FIRE RESCUE
EQUIPMENT TO THE HONDURAN FIRE SERVICE; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City desires to aid in the relief effort to the victims of Hurricane Mitch in
Honduras; and
WHEREAS, the City, through Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach Safety Department, has
received a request from Robert Abadi, Chief of the National Fire Service in Honduras for
equipment to replace lost and damaged emergency equipment; and
WHEREAS, Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach Safety Department is collecting emergency
equipment for distribution to Honduras in response to Hurricane Mitch; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that Tamarac equipment be donated
to those in immediate need in Honduras; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission finds it in the public interest to donate assets of the
Tamarac Fire Rescue Department to the Honduran Fire Service to assist them in their recovery
efforts; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission authorizes the City Manager or designee to identify
equipment in the Fire Rescue Department for delivery to Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach
Safety Department for transportation and delivery to the Honduran Fire Service; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to aid victims and emergency
responders of Hurricane Mitch in Honduras.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed
as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.

SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac supports the efforts to assist the victims of Hurricane
SECTION 3: A donation of Tamarac Fire Rescue equipment to the Honduran Fire service,
to be identified by the City Manager or designee, is hereby approved.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held
by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
